Task 1- Two different Genres in Graphic Design

Moving Images
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T-PuireG6w

This product is an opening sequence of a TV series.

The style of the opening credits is photo-realistic, photo-realism and futuristic and the genre of this is science fiction. Photo-realism is a graphic style which represents images in a very realistic way, they do not look exaggerated or abstract, sometimes it is very difficult to recognise if image was taken using camera or if it's been drawn by hand. Photo realistic is an image that is real even if it isn't. Futuristic style is an image that has been exaggerated and abstract that isn't from everyday life and it doesn't exist.  Futurism is shown through the images and the photo-realistic is shown through the characters. The message and meaning of this TV series is to help others and not just look out for yourself. This was made from Adobe Premiere and Adobe Illustrator. I think that Adobe Premiere has been used to add the effects and transitions (fade in and out in between the images and also blend out as a blur) to add in between each person. I also think that Adobe Premiere has been used to cut and add the overlay of the soundtrack. Using Adobe Premiere has also been used by editing the photos and then frozen the picture. I think that Adobe Illustrator has been used to format the images to add to the main characters, which also has brought the series of different images all together by using Adobe Premiere. I think that they represent style well you can tell this because of how all of the images are different clips from the TV series and have been molded together to make one video of a new perspective of an opening sequence. I think that this has been produced well I can tell this by how the images all flow with each other. I can tell that this is photo-realistic because of the images all being acted by real people and it is futuristic because of how it's set and because of how it says that it's 90 years into the future also because it has guns and swords used in the TV series. I also think that it's Science Fiction and I can tell this because of the post nuclear apocalyptic scene that it's set in. I can also tell that it's science fiction because of part of the series is set in space.

The meaning of this moving image product is to promote teenagers and adults to watch the series to see how the characters develop through the episodes. I have the evidence to back this up as the relationships that the main protagonists have with other characters of how they change from coming to Earth for the first time in ninety years. The main protagonists have developed as though they have always been living on Earth for more longer than they have and as they look like a typical american people. We know this by the accents that they have and what they wear and with by what they carry. This is shown by the guns that they carry around with them to tell us that they are american because in America some states the people are allowed to carry guns around with them from this we can tell they are not British because in British law it's illegal to have possession of any firearm.

The purpose of this moving image is to give the audience a taste of what to expect at first glance of the TV series the 100. In the opening credits we are exposed to the main protagonists, who have played them. Also we see different clips from the TV series. We can see what is happening through the series and so the audience can see what to expect and weather is they would enjoy watching the TV series or not.

E-publishing

This product is a DVD cover.

The style of this is modernism. Modernism is a style that looks like modern life through clothes, the life of style, type of music, fashion, architecture, hair style, etc. I think that this is modernism because it's a modern kind of response because with the girl on the bed which could represent anything but with having the laptop on the bed this tells me that it is modern because of the laptop on the bed that gives us the main focus of a normal teenager in modern day life also the genre is entertainment. The message of this is to like friends and accept them no matter who they are or pay the consequences.  This was produced by using Photoshop by merging two photos together and adding them together. I think that the style of this has been represented well because of how the pictures have come together as one main image and it kinds of blurs out until the two images meet together. I think that this has been produced well I can tell this by the two images showing from different angles and how the colours blend in the middle of the cover. Also the image at the top of the page is more blurred rather than the bottom picture. This has been done because the bottom picture is the main focus while the girl in on Facebook and could be a key point in the film whereas the top picture is more blurred because the character is looking over her shoulder so that this feels to me as though that the girl is beginning to fade away. The colours of this box art is different because the bottom picture looks more in danger and that it can represent the feeling of the that she is in danger whereas the top image looks like a brighter colour because it can show us that she feels as though she has hope. I think that the style of this is modernism because it's set in a modern world with modern people. I think that the genre of this is entertainment because of all the horror placed into it and because of how the scenes are made and how a character is just trying to make another characters life a misery because she unfriended her on Facebook and then that led to the girl committing suicide to go back and  follow the spirit of the girl who has died.

The meaning of this is to remind teenagers that social media websites aren't always safe and they should be careful with who they accept. The main protagonist is looking behind her to show us that she is scared and is being very cautious where she is going and her facial expression looks scared as she doesn't know what will happen next. We can tell that she is a typical teenager because on the bottom picture she is on a laptop and sat on Facebook. This shows us that she is a typical teenager because most teenagers like to do this everyday.

The purpose show us that social media isn't always safe. I know this by the way it says 'Like. Comment. Kill.' We can see the title is all white except the letter 'F' as this is blue because it's the original logo of Facebook which is a social media site. We can see that by the letter 'F' that the film will mostly about Facebook in a negative manner. I can tell this by it saying 'Like.Comment. Kill.' We can also tell that it's a negative point of view from Facebook by having a BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) of fifteen.

Web based graphics

The style for this web based graphic I think is photo-realistic and photo-realism. Photo-realism is a realistic style which signifies pictures in a very representative way, they do not look extravagant or abstract, sometimes it is very difficult to identify if an image was taken using camera or if it's been drawn by hand. Photo realistic is an image that is physical even if it isn't.

The message and the meaning of this website is to communicate and to advertise new episodes and also new movies that are coming out and it also gives us an in-site of what celebrities do and what they have been in.

The website also uses images and videos so that the viewer can see what something is about and the images of the front covers of each TV show or movie so that it will be easier to catch what it is what you need. The web based graphic has also used the colour of the black and white background to add the significance of the theme of the movie. The website has been made by choosing a web background so for this instant it is a movie and then they have added another box and in that box they have added columns so that they can place all the information about each movie and also they have then added the embedded videos through the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) codes. Also added into this are hyperlinks towards other movies.

Compare
In comparison the three have a few things in common are that they all have images and are all in colour. In the moving image and the e-publishing have in common are they both have the actors and actresses over them so we know who is into it. The moving image and the web based graphics have in common are that they both have videos with them. In the web based graphics and the e-publishing is that they have used nearly the same covers by the background and the bottom half of the e-publishing graphic design.

In the web-based graphic and the e-publishing graphic have a few things differently like the 'F' in Friend request looks as though it's the main logo for Facebook. Another difference between the two is that the e-publishing product is made of flat images whereas the web-based graphic has videos and has more information about each movie rather than just the title on the main page. Another thing differently about them both is that the text are in a different font so the font in e-publishing is more bigger and has a bolder font rather than the web-based graphic.

Whereas in the web-based graphic and the moving image have a few things in common like they are both made with video. Even though that the two have a few things in common they also have a few things differently like that the web-based graphic has different videos embedded whereas the moving image has only one main focus on one video rather than a multiple choice of videos. Another difference is that the web-based graphic has a series of different backgrounds whereas the moving image only has one main focal point and background colour and the text for the two differ. I know this by the way that the actors/ actresses are portrayed like. Whereas like in the web based graphic are more in a darker way.

The message and meaning of each of these are different between e-publishing, moving image and a web design graphic because they all maintain a different aspects in between each of the messages of the meaning for example the meaning of the e-publishing DVD cover has the meaning of reminding teenagers that social media websites aren't always safe and they should be careful with who they accept whereas, the meaning of the moving image so in this case the opening credits meaning is to promote teenagers and adults to watch the series to see how the characters develop through the episodes and the meaning of the web design graphic is to communicate and to advertise new episodes and also new movies releases.
